The plain and emotive effusions of an honest soul

This kind of desire is known as bodhicitta, the mind of bodhisattvas, of awakened beings - the mind of love. This is love that contains the spirit of kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity; it is not a sentimental, tragic, obsessive, or sensual kind of love. To love, according to the teachings of Buddha, is to have compassion for and to relieve the miseries of all who suffer, miseries due to sensual desires, hatred, ignorance, envy, arrogance, and doubtfulness.
